The Practice

Gouldstone & Co is a residential architecture practice specialising in constrained and complex sites across London and the South-East. We work with developers and landowners to unlock the potential of infill, backland and awkward plots—turning sites that appear difficult into viable, deliverable housing schemes.

Our Approach

Our approach is design-led in the truest sense. Design, for us, is not about finishes or style, but about understanding constraints early and using feasibility, planning insight and creative thinking to shape schemes that succeed. This often includes progressing sites that have previously been refused by re-evaluating the strategy and responding to the site in a more considered way.

The practice was established in 2021 by David Gouldstone, following 12 years at Peter Barber Architects, including as a Director. During this time, David developed extensive experience working on tightly constrained brownfield sites and leading projects through planning and delivery as part of multi-disciplinary design teams.
